I have always wanted a career where I can be active, creative and enjoy my love for dealing with the general public. I had never thought that this career would be in hospitality but since I started my job in a pub last year its opened my eyes to the idea to this course.
Many parts of this course interests me for example; international hospitality been one of them, I love the idea of been able to travel with my future career and meeting people from around the world from different backgrounds and cultures. Another one been marketing, because the current course has help me to develop the skills needed to use complex computer software to create a professional standard of work. I really love working with people. I have great communication skills which I feel are vital for a career in hospitality and can talk to people one to one or as part of a group, I am confident when required and enjoying adding humour where appropriate to entertain an audience. I work well with others which I have successful demonstrated whilst studying at college. I am also very organised and good at prioritizing work to meet deadlines. I am very creative when in a leadership role and I can come up with ideas which grab people’s attention and guide them in the right path. I am also a very determined person and always finish what I have started which leads me to have a good attendance record because I don’t want to miss anything.
From my current studies I have learnt detailed analytical skills and complex process including learning different software like Photoshop and InDesign which I feel confident in using and how found it to be an effective way of communicating my thoughts and ideas.
I have taken part in activities that demonstrate my interests in hospitality the main one been my job. I work in a Pub part time which showed me the path of hospitality. I have been there 12 months and have loved every minute of work, from the customers that come in to the staff that I work with. The reason I am passionate about working in the hospitality business is the challenges I am presented with on a daily basis and having to overcome them. This job has helped me to develop key skills that I am hoping to learn more about on this course, some including communication, organisation and team work. What I am really wanting to learn more about and build on is the business and management side of the hospitality industry which this course will help me to achieve. My passion for hospitality has not gone unnoticed with talks of been promoted to supervisor which was a big complement but at this time in my life my education has to be my priority.
In the last two years at school I had the opportunity to do the Duke of Edinburgh award which included both bronze and silver which I went and completed in full. It was a valuable experience and it helped me to develop more skills from the volunteering, skill and sport. The main skills that I felt I built on was team work and leadership, this was because when you are having to navigate using a map and compass you need to be sure in the decision you are making not only for you but the team and you have to be willing to give it your one hundred percent commitment. I think from doing the Duke of Edinburgh award it will help me when it comes to the management and marketing communications modules within this course. As well as been able to work well within a team I am more than capable to work independently and this allows me to effectively express my creative ideas at my own speed to meet the deadline. I am a reliable and conscientious student that will give my all with everything and this is because hospitality is where I see my future career.

Blitzen the reindeer mothers 5- day old Abba.
It’s June at Sweetwells Christmas Tree Farm in Westbourne and Abba is getting some new playmates as calves are being born within the next few weeks.
Mr Morrice is hoping to build up a heard of reindeer as they prove popular with both young and old people.
Mr Morice said: “Abba’s father is called Bjorn, so with that and my wife Jayne’s love for all things Abba, we just had to name her after the group.
“She’s certainly a bit of a dancing queen so far, frolicking about the field”

1 – Beef vs veggie –
There are many types of different burgers in Sheffield. Most of them are either beef or veggie.
I took a friend to the British Oak in Mosborough to try out their beefburger and veggie burger. The beef was layered with brisket caramelized onion is and Stilton topping, whilst the Veggie option was a feta red onion and spinach patty with cheese.
Both burgers looked incredible, juicy, moist and a pleasure on the eyes.
Miya (17) a journalism student from Hillsborough college went for the veggie burger, whilst I even got the beef.
The beef was tender and succulent everything you want in a burger! It was well presented and a great portion just enough to fill you up but not to much that you can’t move for a week after you’ve finished.
Miya said “I was very optimistic to try the veggie burger at first as I am a big meat eater. However, to my surprise I thought that the veggie burger was even more filling than most other burgers iv tried. It didn’t look as appealing as other burgers, but it tasted great!”
Over all we love trying just two of the burgers Sheffield has to offer and are looking forward to trying more .

To put it simply, dogs are amazing. Whether they’re begging for your food, barking at their lead to convince you to take them on a walk, or simply greeting you when you get home with kiss and a cuddle, dogs do all of the little things that put smiles on faces around the home.
One of the main reasons dogs are how they are is there incredible long term memory. They won’t forget the connection they share with you and, if you are good to them, you will leave a lasting impact on them that they’ll never shake off.
Another reason is that they will protect you no matter what. If you are under threat they will always choose you over a stranger.

Horrifying Halloween makeup –
Halloween seems to be always just round the corner and some people all over the world are obsessed with scaring the living daylight out of people. People just love feeling scared all year round, there’s always a new horror on the TV or at the cinema that will make you jump out of your skin.
To scare someone you have to look the part and people train for years to be great at special effects and making people look terrifying.

There is lots of advice for people on interviews and techniques that they can uses to make themselves look and feel better towards a employer for a job, here are some do’s and dont’s for them.
DO’S –
research – by doing research on the company or employer you can create a more personal interview that will stand you out from the crowd and know about the position you are going for shows you are interested in the job and your not going to slack once you get it.
Knowing the questions – you can’t know all of them but there are some that are quite common, if you know these you can plan and structure your answer better so you can again stand out from the crowd.
Dress appropriately – by doing this you can set a good impression to the person doing the interview. If you are dress appropriately they can tell you are serious about the job and once you get it you are going to have the same mind set. If you get the job you are are not only going to be representing the company, you are representing the person who employed you.
Been prepared – there is been mentally prepared where you are combating nerves and you are getting your self together before the interview, but the main one is been physically prepared. Having the correct paper work and information details, if you are not then it may show that you won’t be come to that job prepared and you will forget things and mess up.
Been polite – Be polite and thankful to everyone you meet; you never know whose opinion will count. And if you are nice to everyone on the interview they know your going to be if you get the job.
Eye contact – if there isn’t any eye contact in the interview then what’s it going to be like on the job? There’s going to be no connection from you to the person giving you the job and if there isn’t then there’s going to be no connection from you to the work your producing.
Enthusiasm – you need to be enthusiastic towards the job that your been interviewed for. If you are then the person doing the interview knows your going to have the same enthusiasm towards the job, the time you arrive and the quality of work your producing.
Notes – write notes about the interview, you don’t want to come away and forget what they have said due to nerves or you missing something that could be important. Also if you right notes before you go in you know what you need to know and you won’t miss things out during the interview.
Be punctual – arriving just 10 minutes before your interview would show the person your serious about the job and if you get it your always going to be on time, not only to work but with assessments and projects.
DONT’S –
Rehearsals – don’t rehears your answers too much, you don’t want the person interviewing you to think you are resisting them from memory because if you do it could show you as been not confident with you and your answers. Just be prepared to answer them on the spot and them been unique.
Smell – having to much aftershave and perfume on you at a interview could make the person think you are trying to hard but having a strong smell of smoke could show you to spend to much time with a cigarette in hand than doing work.
Been late – if you are late on purpose then this could let your employer know that anything they ask you to do like the time you need to be in work for and any projects your going be late. It also could show that your not serious about the position.
Arriving stressed – if you arrive stressed your employer will be able to tell and feel that stress but they won’t know that you may not normally be like that they will think that that is you. You don’t want to create a false persona of your self.
Fidget – if you Slouch, fidget, or yawn while being interviewed they may not take you seriously because it could show what you may be like on the job. Don’t chew gum or bring food or drink into an interview because it not a great impression to present yourself with.
Convocation – don’t tell jokes or bring up controversial topics because you don’t know them and there boundaries to able to push them.
Been self-aggrandising – you don’t want to make them think you have no falls and your perfect because they know that no one is and by you telling you are they might see that as been fake and you not accepting yourself.
Past employers – Don’t speak negatively about your current or former company, boss, or coworkers because this could show the one that is interviewing you that you may not be a nice person, plus they may know or be friends with the people you are talking about.
Answering questions – Don’t answer every question that they ask you with a simple “yes” or “no” because this shows them that you may not be very confident with your answers and this could lead on to the work you may have to produce if you get the job.
mobile phone – Don’t answer your phone, check messages, or text during an interview because this would show them that if you can do in front of the you would do it when you are doing the job.
Person gain – Don’t indicate that you’re only interested in the job because of the salary, benefits, or geographic location. Don’t indicate that you intend the job to be a “stepping stone” to something else because they will choose someone who is going to stick with them.
The way you act – Don’t act desperate to take the job and beg them. This would make them feel uncomfortable and make them not want to give you the job.
